SCIENCE BASED CLINICAL SKINCARE

High Elevation Climate | Targeted Treatment

Overview

Formulated specifically for mountainous and high-elevation environments,  including Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and California, this targeted treatment delivers deep hydration and moisture protection in low-humidity conditions while infusing skin with powerful antioxidants and plant botanicals for cellular support and repair against the intensified UV radiation found at altitude.

AM & PM Protocol

AM

  • Step 1 — Cleanse with Chamomile Facial Cleanser, or skip cleansing if skin feels tight (optional)
  • Step 2 — Treat: Apply 2 pumps of C-Stem Serum onto face and neck; massage into skin, avoiding the eye area
  • Step 3 — Nourish: Apply Nourishing Lipids to face and neck; massage into skin, avoiding the eye area
  • Step 4 — Protect: Apply Daily Defense Cream to face and neck; massage into skin, avoiding the eye area

Pro Tip: Reapply C-Stem Serum after sun exposure. At high elevation, UV radiation is significantly more intense. Vitamin C’s antioxidant properties help neutralize UV-induced cellular damage and support skin repair.

PM

  • Step 1 — Cleanse with Chamomile Facial Cleanser to face and neck

Why it Works: Active Substances

Explore the key actives and their benefits for your skin.

Pichia/Resveratrol Ferment Extract: Resveratrol is an effective active ingredient but it has difficulty penetrating through the skin barrier. Pichia Pastoris is a yeast that ferments resveratrol making it more readily available for the skin to absorb. Resveratrol is a polyphenol (micronutrients found in plants), phytoestrogen (plant-based compound that can mildly mimic the effects of estrogen in the body and they can bind to estrogen receptors), and a phytoalexin (antimicrobial compounds produced by plants). This compound is found in grapes, berries, tomatoes and nuts. It exhibits antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties, reparative/wound healing and regenerative properties such as enhancing collagen synthesis, protecting the skin against the harmful effects of UVB radiation, and inhibiting tyrosinase which aids in reducing skin discoloration.

Vegetable Glycerin: Sugar alcohol compound containing carbons and hydrophilic hydroxyl groups that can be obtained from natural sources or can be synthesized. It is obtained from organic plant oils like palm, soy, and coconut oil. Acts as a moisturizing and emollient agent in which it can soften and soothe skin. Acts as a humectant: It is used in formulas to help the skin retain moisture: It is highly hygroscopic (tending to absorb moisture from the air), viscous (having a thick, sticky consistency between solid and liquid), odorless and colorless. Water soluble and non non-toxic. Endogenous glycerol, which is part of the skin's Natural Moisturizing Factor, plays a role in skin hydration, cutaneous elasticity, and epidermal barrier repair. The aquaporin-3 transport channel and lipid metabolism in the pilosebaceous unit have been evidenced as potential pathways for endogenous delivery of glycerol and for its metabolism in the skin. Multiple diverse effects of glycerol on the epidermis have been reported: Improvement of stratum corneum hydration, Skin barrier function and skin mechanical properties, Protection against irritating stimuli, Enhancement of desmosomal degradation, Acceleration of wound wound-healing processes, Antimicrobial effects have been demonstrated topically

Hexapeptide-9, also known as collagen peptide III (Gly‐Pro‐Gln‐Gly‐Pro‐Gln), is a synthetic hexapeptide that exists in the structure of human collagen IV and XVII. These are key basement membrane collagens. It is made up of 6 amino acids. Hexapeptide-9 is a "signaling peptide" that communicates with skin cells. It mimics a fragment of collagen, allowing it to bind to collagen receptors on fibroblasts (these are the cells in your dermis that produce collagen and elastin). This stimulates fibroblasts to produce more collagen and other extracellular matrix components (the ECM is composed of proteins such as collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans which attract and hold water), enhancing the structural integrity, density, and resilience of the skin. This leads to increased firmness and elasticity. Exhibits anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties that helps to reduce the degradation of collagen and the skin barrier. Aids in promoting skin repair and regeneration by activating various growth factors involved in wound healing and tissue regeneration. For example, hexapeptide-9 increases the production of growth factor-beta (TGF-β), a powerful protein that aids in tissue repair of the ECM. Strengthens the skin barrier which is essential for skin health. The skin barrier (which is as thin as a single sheet of paper) protects us from environmental aggressors such as microbes (bacteria, fungi, virus), allergens, and pollutants, it reduces the risk of infections and inflammatory responses, and it maintains our hydration. It's our waterproof barrier. Hexapeptide-9 promotes extracellular lipids such as ceramides and filligran (filament-aggregating protein) which strengthens the adhesiveness of the skin barrier’s proteins making the body less susceptible to microbial and environmental invasion while lessening trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL). A well maintained barrier function also keeps your skin feeling soft and hydrated.

Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7: synthetic peptide composed of four amino acids (glycine-glutamine-proline-arginine) and palmitic acid. The addition of the fatty acid palmitic acid enhances the stability and permeability of the ingredient to the skin. Skin repair ingredient with anti-inflammatory properties: protects extracellular matrix components from degradation by reducing the production of interleukin-6 (IL-6) by keratinocytes and fibroblasts, key cells in the skin. Interleukin-6 is a mediator of inflammation that causes faster degradation of extracellular matrix components, promotes wrinkle formation and reduces skin firmness and elasticity. Acute inflammatory response can lead to glycation damage, or the process by which glucose links with proteins and causes them to bind together, stiffening tissues. This negatively affects the skin's support system, composed of collagen, elastin, and other proteins, and leads to wrinkles, loss of tone and elasticity, and uneven skin tone.

Tocopherol (Vitamin E): Primary fat-soluble antioxidant that resides in our skin. Antioxidant: protects against cellular damage • Vitamin E plays an important part in the protection against oxidative stressors, such as ultraviolet radiation, pollution, and chemicals • Upper layers of the stratum corneum contain significantly higher levels of the antioxidant α-tocopherol • Sebaceous gland secretion is a physiological pathway for the delivery of vitamin E to upper layers of facial skin. This mechanism may serve to protect skin surface lipids and the upper stratum corneum from harmful oxidation • Significant photoprotection against UVB rays • Vit C + Vit E work in synergy and provide photoprotection • Has emollient properties

Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C): acts as an effective antioxidant in which it delays or protects against cellular damage caused by reactive oxygen species and free radicals. Water soluble Vitamin C derivative with superior stability in formulations compared to L-ascorbic acid (Vitamin C). Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate is a salt that converts to ascorbic acid when applied to the skin and is gentler and more stable on the skin compared to L-ascorbic acid. Acts on the melanin formation process to prevent hyperpigmentation and senile keratosis. Exhibits anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial benefits. Works synergistically with Tocopheryl Acetate(Vitamin E).
