SCIENCE BASED CLINICAL SKINCARE

Sensitive-Dry | Clinical Autumn Routine

Overview

Sensitive-dry skin faces a unique challenge in autumn. Cooler temperatures carry less moisture in the air, triggering flare-ups — and layered on top of already dry skin, the result is increased tightness, redness, and irritation.

This protocol seals in moisture with lipids and emollients that combat dryness, while delivering humectants, antioxidants, and botanical extracts to shield skin from the environmental stressors that sensitize and inflame.

AM Protocol

  1. Cleanse with Complete Cleansing Oil (optional — on reactive mornings, rinse with cool water instead)
  2. Apply 2–3 pumps of HA1 Serum to face and neck, avoiding the eye area
  3. Mix 2 pumps of Nourishing Lipids with Ultra Nourishing Cream and apply to face and neck, avoiding the eye area

PM Protocol

  1. Cleanse with Complete Cleansing Oil
  2. Apply 2–3 pumps of HA1 Serum to face and neck, avoiding the eye area
  3. Mix 2 pumps of Nourishing Lipids with Ultra Nourishing Cream and apply to face and neck, avoiding the eye area

☀️ Pro Tip: Sun protection is non-negotiable for sensitive skin. UV radiation is one of the leading causes of redness, irritation, and rosacea — layer a physical sunblock over your moisturizer and pair with a hat, sunglasses, and protective clothing.

🌫️ Pro Tip: Traveling through areas with poor air quality? Cleanse when you get home. Airborne particles are free radicals that directly damage skin health.

Sensitive-Dry Skin
Key Benefits
• Replenishes and fortifies the extracellular lipid matrix with nutrient-dense essential fatty acids • Topical omega fatty acids strengthen and maintain the skin barrier, preventing transepidermal water loss via emollient action • Ideal for dehydration-prone and sensitive skin types — anti-inflammatory properties calm and reduce reactivity • Superior antioxidant activity supports photoprotection and cellular regeneration

Why it Works: Active Substances

Explore the key actives and their benefits for your skin.

Sunflower Seed Oil (Helianthus annuus) is primarily composed of unsaturated fatty acids — specifically linoleic acid (Omega-6, ~60% of the oil) and oleic acid (Omega-9, 14–43% of unsaturated fatty acids) — with minor amounts of saturated fats. It is also one of nature's richest sources of fat-soluble Vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol), a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin from oxidative damage. Linoleic acid plays a particularly critical role in skin health: it is used by the skin to synthesize essential lipids — including ceramides, triglycerides, and sterols — that are fundamental to maintaining epidermal barrier integrity, limiting transepidermal water loss (TEWL), and preventing unwanted water entry into the skin. Barrier Repair — Linoleic acid (Omega-6, ~60% of the oil) supports the synthesis of ceramides and other structural lipids essential for maintaining a healthy, intact epidermal barrier. Antioxidant Protection — One of nature's richest sources of Vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol), neutralizing free radicals and protecting the skin from oxidative stress and environmental damage. Anti-Inflammatory — Helps reduce inflammation and calm reactive or sensitized skin. Wound Healing — Supports the skin's natural repair processes, accelerating recovery from damage and irritation. Photoprotection — Provides a degree of protection against UV-induced oxidative damage. Moisture Retention — Ceramide synthesis supported by linoleic acid limits TEWL, keeping skin hydrated and resilient. Lightweight & Non-Greasy — Its non-greasy, lightweight texture absorbs readily into the skin, making it suitable for all skin types including oily and combination.

High Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid: HMW hyaluronic acid (generally defined as >1,000 kDa) functions primarily on the skin's surface, acting as a potent humectant that forms a barrier to lock in moisture. Unlike lower molecular weight variants that penetrate deeper, HMW hyaluronic acid provides immediate surface hydration, improves skin elasticity, and offers soothing, anti-inflammatory benefits.

Glycerin is a sugar alcohol compound containing carbons and hydrophilic hydroxyl groups that can be obtained from natural sources or can be synthesized. It is obtained from organic plant oils like organic palm, organic soya, and organic coconut oil. It is water soluble and non-toxic • Acts as a moisturizing and emollient agent in which it can soften and soothe skin • Acts as a humectant: It is used in formulas to help the skin retain moisture: It is highly hygroscopic (tending to absorb moisture from the air) and viscous (having a thick, sticky consistency between solid and liquid), odorless, and colorless. Endogenous glycerol plays a role in skin hydration, cutaneous elasticity and epidermal barrier repair. The aquaporin-3 transport channel and lipid metabolism in the pilosebaceous unit have been evidenced as potential pathways for endogenous delivery of glycerol and for its metabolism in the skin. • Multiple diverse effects of glycerol on the epidermis have been reported: • Improvement of stratum corneum hydration • Skin barrier function and skin mechanical properties • Protection against irritating stimuli • Enhancement of desmosomal degradation • Acceleration of wound wound-healing processes • Antimicrobial effects have been demonstrated.

Oryza sativa (Rice) Bran Oil: Contains fatty acids such as palmitic, stearic, oleic, and linoleic and other components include antioxidants such as tocopherols (Vitamin E).

Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii) is derived from the seed of the Shea tree, native to Central Africa. It is a rich, naturally occurring butter prized for its deeply emollient, moisturizing, and skin-replenishing properties. Shea Butter is an abundant source of antioxidant compounds — including quercetin, epicatechin gallate, gallocatechin, and epigallocatechin — as well as a complex of skin-nourishing fatty acids: stearic, oleic, linoleic, and palmitic acids. It is particularly beneficial for dry, mature, irritated, flaky, and eczema-prone skin. Emollient & Deep Moisturizing — Rich, creamy texture delivers deep hydration and lasting moisture retention, softening and smoothing the skin surface. Antioxidant Protection — Contains a potent blend of polyphenols — quercetin, epicatechin gallate, gallocatechin, and epigallocatechin — that neutralize free radicals and protect against oxidative stress. Skin Barrier Support — Fatty acid complex (stearic, oleic, linoleic, and palmitic acids) replenishes and reinforces the skin's natural lipid barrier. Viscosity & Texture Enhancer — Functions as a natural viscosity-increasing agent, contributing to the rich, luxurious feel of creams and balms. Soothing & Anti-Inflammatory — Calms irritated, reactive, and eczema-prone skin, reducing redness and discomfort.

Rosehip Seed Oil: Promotes moisture retention, emollient properties, and anti-inflammatory properties.
